Job Summary

• Design, develop, and support modern SAP ABAP solutions for SAP S/4HANA using clean-core, upgrade-safe development practices.
• Build reusable application services using modern ABAP syntax, object-oriented ABAP, CDS views, RAP, OData services, and Fiori-ready backend patterns.
• Develop and support enterprise integrations using SAP BTP Integration Suite, including Cloud Integration, API Management, event-driven integration, and migration from SAP PI/PO where applicable.
• Partner with functional, business, and integration teams across P2P, Q2C, R2R, P2M, manufacturing, logistics, and finance processes to deliver scalable SAP solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and development for SAP S/4HANA enhancements, extensions, reports, interfaces, conversions, forms, workflows, and application services.
• Apply modern ABAP practices such as inline declarations, expressions, class-based design, exception handling, unit-testable logic, and separation of data access, business logic, and presentation layers.
• Design and implement CDS views, behavior definitions, service definitions, service bindings, and OData-based services using the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model where appropriate.
• Develop secure and reusable integration flows in SAP BTP Integration Suite, including message transformation, routing, exception handling, monitoring, and API enablement.
• Support integration patterns across SAP and non-SAP systems using APIs, IDocs, proxies, events, files, RFCs, SOAP, REST, and cloud connectors where applicable.
• Work closely with functional teams, architects, business analysts, and external partners to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs and realistic estimates.
• Perform code reviews, root cause analysis, performance tuning, transport support, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of SAP custom solutions.
• Ensure compliance with security, SOX, change management, documentation, and operational support standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Modern ABAP / S/4HANA Development

• Strong hands-on experience in modern ABAP on SAP S/4HANA, including inline declarations, constructor expressions, table expressions, string templates, class-based exception handling, and modern Open SQL.
• Solid object-oriented ABAP design skills with practical use of interfaces, inheritance, factory patterns, dependency separation, reusable classes, and testable application logic.
• Experience with ABAP CDS views, annotations, associations, table functions, AMDP where appropriate, and HANA-aware performance optimization.
• Experience building or supporting RAP-based applications and services, including behavior definitions, projections, validations, determinations, actions, service definitions, and service bindings.
• Experience exposing SAP data and business logic through OData services for SAP Fiori, SAP Build, external applications, or integration consumers.
• Ability to modernize legacy custom code by refactoring procedural logic into maintainable, reusable, clean-core aligned components.
• Strong debugging, SQL trace, runtime analysis, performance tuning, background job troubleshooting, and production defect resolution skills.
• Functional exposure to at least two SAP process areas such as P2P, Q2C, R2R, P2M, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, or finance is preferred.

SAP BTP Integration Suite

• Hands-on experience with SAP BTP Integration Suite, especially Cloud Integration for designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting integration flows.
• Knowledge of API Management for publishing, securing, governing, monitoring, and consuming APIs across SAP and non-SAP systems.
• Experience with integration patterns including REST, SOAP, OData, IDoc, RFC, SFTP, file-based integration, message mapping, groovy scripting, exception handling, and reusable integration artifacts.
• Understanding of event-driven integration concepts such as Event Mesh, asynchronous messaging, decoupled application design, and resilient communication patterns.
• Ability to support SAP PI/PO to SAP BTP Integration Suite migration assessment, interface rationalization, and hybrid integration coexistence during transition.
• Familiarity with BTP destinations, connectivity, certificates, OAuth, role collections, transport management, monitoring, alerting, and security considerations.

Legacy SAP PI/PO and Interface Support

• Experience supporting existing SAP PI/PO interfaces, including monitoring, mapping, adapters, queues, error handling, and production troubleshooting.
• Ability to analyze legacy PI/PO interfaces and recommend modernization options using BTP Integration Suite, APIs, events, or standard SAP integration content.
• Working knowledge of IDoc, ALE, proxy, RFC, file, SOAP, REST, JDBC, and SFTP integration patterns.

Educational / Certification Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related field.

Experience Requirement

Work Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, with recent practical exposure to SAP S/4HANA development standards.
• 2+ years of experience or strong project exposure in modern ABAP, CDS, OData, RAP, Fiori backend enablement, or clean-core custom development.
• Hands-on experience with SAP BTP Integration Suite, SAP Cloud Integration, API Management, or equivalent enterprise integration platform is strongly preferred.
• Experience in SAP PI/PO support or migration to BTP Integration Suite is preferred.
• Advanced understanding of SAP solution architecture, application design, integration patterns, security, performance, and operational support.

Management Experience (for people manager job only)

• People management experience is not required; however, the candidate should be able to mentor junior developers, review technical designs, and guide external partners or AMS resources when needed.
