Role Summary:
The HSE Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements across road and infrastructure construction activities. The role will support the implementation of project HSE plans, applicable Saudi regulations, client requirements, and safe working practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular HSE inspections across road, bridge, and infrastructure construction areas.
- Monitor contractors and subcontractors' compliance with HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements, PTW, and safe work procedures.
- Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and HSE non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
- Monitor key construction activities including traffic management, excavation, demolition, lifting, working at height, electrical, hot works, heavy equipment, and utility works.
- Monitor site housekeeping, PPE compliance, access routes, barricading, signage, and general site safety.
- Participate in toolbox talks, HSE inductions, safety awareness activities, and emergency drills.
- Report serious hazards, incidents, near misses, and significant HSE violations to the HSE management team.
- Support incident investigations, HSE audits, inspections, and corrective action follow-up.
- Prepare and maintain HSE reports, inspection records, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and project teams to ensure safe execution of construction activities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership.
Minimum 7 years of HSE experience in construction projects in KSA, preferably in road and bridge construction.
Strong knowledge of construction HSE requirements, risk assessments, traffic management, and major construction hazards.
Experience in contractor and subcontractor HSE management.
Strong inspection, reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in shifts according to project requirements.
Proficiency in English.
