Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Tax Accountant to join and grow our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, reconciliations, and tax-related accounting activities , including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing obligations, while ensuring the business remains compliant with applicable tax legislation. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review corporate income tax returns, tax calculations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage indirect tax obligations, including VAT/GST, withholding tax, payroll-related taxes, and other applicable taxes.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns, declarations, and statutory reports.
- Perform monthly and annual tax reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate tax accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and tax balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their potential impact on mining operations.
- Support tax audits, reviews, and enquiries from tax authorities.
- Work closely with finance, commercial, payroll, procurement, and operational teams on tax-related matters.
- Review contracts, invoices, transactions, and business activities for tax implications.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and related-party tax matters where applicable.
- Support tax planning and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency while maintaining compliance.
- Assist with mineral royalties, resource taxes, withholding taxes, and other mining-specific fiscal obligations.
- Prepare tax reports and analysis for management.
- Maintain appropriate tax risk and compliance controls.
- Support internal and external audits and provide relevant tax schedules and documentation.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation, and strengthening of tax reporting procedures.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- CPA(T), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and applicable tax legislation.
- Good understanding of corporate and indirect taxation.
- Knowledge of mining-sector taxation, royalties, and resource-related fiscal regimes is highly desirable.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience in tax accounting, tax compliance, or financial accounting with significant tax responsibilities.
- Previous experience in the mining sector, oil & gas, or other extractive industries is strongly preferred
- Experience with tax reconciliations, tax provisions, deferred tax, and statutory reporting.
- Experience dealing with tax authorities and supporting tax audits.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
