Overview

Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Doctor (or equivalent) with a backgroundin biostatistics, public health, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to serve as an M&E Intern. The internwill support the implementation and monitoring of project activities, contributing to evidence-baseddecision-making and the successful implementation of the BEAT Breast Cancer Project in Zanzibar.

Responsibilities

• Support data collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, and reporting related to breast cancer screening,diagnosis, and patient navigation services.• Assist health facilities Integrated Reproductive and Child Health (IRCH) and District HealthManagement Teams (DHMTs) in ensuring data quality and timely reporting.• Participate in data verification visits and routine monitoring activities to strengthen data accuracyand completeness.• Support healthcare providers in proper documentation and the use of data collection and reportingtools.• Assist in tracking and following up confirmed breast cancer patients to support continuity of careand patient navigation services.• Contribute to the preparation of project reports, presentations, and data summaries.

Support the use and maintenance of digital health information systems and databases used by theproject.• Perform other M&E-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in biostatistics, public health, orM&E.• At least 1 year of experience in health program monitoring and evaluation.• Awareness in digital data management tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ZanEMR, Microsoft SharePoint,DHIS2, Power BI).• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.• Willingness to travel to health facilities and outreach sites within Zanzibar (Unguja and PembaIslands).• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple taskssimultaneously• Jhpiego is an equal opportunity employer. Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in health program implementation and evaluation.• Mentorship from experienced professionals in M&E and public health.• Opportunity to contribute to impactful breast cancer initiatives.• Skill development in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.• Exposure to digital health information systems, including DHIS2, ZanEMR, and Power BI.• Practical experience in data quality assurance, data visualization, and performance monitoring.• Enhanced understanding of breast cancer prevention, early detection, and health systemsstrengthening.• Opportunities to participate in field visits, supportive supervision, and stakeholder coordinationmeetings.• Capacity building in project planning, management, documentation, and evidence-based decisionmaking.

• Experience working with government, development partners, and healthcare providers in adynamic public health environment.
