Feedmill Lead

Primary Purpose

Responsible for all aspects of the daily production operations. Has a strong understanding of batching, receiving, pelleting and a strong working knowledge of all aspects of the Quality Assurance Technician workload. May need to communicate and coordinate batching schedules and production with all appropriate personnel to maximize plant efficiency while following FDA/GMP/USDA and quality control procedures. This role is primarily a day shift, but you may be asked to work 2nd or 3rd shift to cover call-outs or vacations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Unload bulk, rail and/or bag ingredients. Route ingredients to proper destination bins. Must be trained on forklift, skid steer and rail mover equipment operations.
  2. Batch, mix and route feed according to specified formula procedures. As well as schedule to fully utilize batching controller, mixing equipment, pellet and routing equipment and destination bin.
  3. Recordkeeping of all FDA requirements, daily quality testing of raw and finished feed.
  4. Accurately complete assigned reports, logs or documents. Accurate inventory of feed ingredients both bulk and micro and finished feed at the end of each shift.
  5. Ensure proper micro ingredients are placed in the correct bin.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant Feed Mill experience.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, skid steer and rail mover.
  • Must be highly versatile.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Requires physical strength and dexterity.
  • Requires the ability to work long hours with hazardous materials, at times in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be literate and able to communicate both written and verbal, with all team members.
  • This position requires being on call.
