About this position: Laborer Location - Papillion, NE

Wage/Salary Range: $17.31 per hour + fringe $4.03 / Shop rate $20.00 per hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Skills and willingness to perform heavy labor duties on a levee repair and restoration project site – hand-digging, using small tools, installing erosion control materials & safety fence, lifting and moving materials by hand, spotting for heavy equipment and trucks, sweeping and cleaning, etc.
  • Maintain a safe work area.
  • Communicate and work with the Project Support staff – QCM, SSHO, Superintendent.
  • Communicate and professionally represent the Employer with government representatives and the public

  • Education Requirements: None
  • Level of Experience Requirements:
    • Entry Level (preferred 1+ years of demonstratable experience working on Levee Sites).
    • Has traffic control experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Skills & experience in using hand tools – hammers, sledgehammers, shovels, picks, brooms, wheelbarrows, etc.
  • Skills & experience in using powered small tools –saws, drills, pumps, air compressors, jackhammers, etc.
  • Skills & experience in completing small repair tasks – removing/reinstalling silt fences, installing or removing erosion control materials, installing Geotech fabric.
  • Ability to complete and file paperwork in an organized and legible form.

  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for lifting, bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent outdoors with frequent opportunity to move about.

Work Environment

Physical Setting: The job is performed in an outdoor setting with exposure to all weather conditions – rain, snow, cold and hot temperatures. Requires an extensive amount of driving during each shift.

Schedule and Flexibility: The work schedule will require working more than 8 hours per shift, nominally working Monday through Friday, work on weekends will be occasionally required.

Other Pertinent Work Details: The job requires the use of smart phones, cameras, tablets, in the field. The use of personal protective equipment is required – hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, safety vests, etc. A laborer position requires heavy exertion and the lifting of heavy loads.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
