Job title & brief description: The Electrical Engineering Technician supports the Service Operations team by performing electrical troubleshooting, testing, repair, installation, and commissioning of precision spindle systems and machine tool components. This position serves as a technical resource for internal service teams and customers, ensuring repairs, rebuilds, and field service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance or equivalent experience required.
  • 2 years of experience in working with industrial machinery, drives, motors, controls, feedback devices, and electrical systems.
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting Fanuc, Siemens, or similar CNC control and drive systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of industrial sensors, motors, encoders, drives, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Proficient with electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Understands and applies standard project management methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and service documentation tools preferred.

Primary Tasks:

  • Identify opportunities to improve service processes, repair quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in implementing corrective actions resulting from customer feedback, warranty claims, or recurring failures.
  • Support training initiatives that enhance technical capabilities throughout the Service Operations organization.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve serviceability and reliability of products.
  • Contribute to development of standardized troubleshooting and testing procedures.
  • Provide technical support to customers regarding troubleshooting, startup, operation, and performance issues.
  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and field service activities as required.
  • Support customer visits, service reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Help develop service reports and recommendations for customers following inspections or repairs.
  • Travel as needed to support customer installations, troubleshooting, and training activities.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electromechanical issues on customer spindle systems and machine tool components.
  • Perform runoff, functional testing and validation of repaired assemblies prior to shipment.
  • Support spindle rebuild, repair, and remanufacturing activities by testing and verifying electrical components.
  • Analyze failures and document root cause findings to improve repair quality and reliability.
  • Assist in developing repair procedures and best practices for electrical systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to evaluate motors, encoders, sensors, drives, switches, and related electrical assemblies.
  • Support the execution of service orders while meeting turnaround time and cost objectives.
  • Accurately document repairs, findings, parts usage, and test results within company systems.
  • Maintain test equipment, calibration records, and service documentation.
