JOB SUMMARY:
As an intern with Team Structures, you will have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of the aircraft structural repair process. You will support Textron Aviation customers providing technical guidance to customers and service facility personnel relative to aircraft structural issues. Will coordinate with Structures Engineering to develop, certify and support the incorporation of structural repairs on all Textron Aviation models.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in Structural Repair Coordination:
· Learn how to gather information on aircraft damage and condition.
· Observe and assist in communicating repair needs with the engineering team.
· Understand how to effectively communicate between engineering teams and shop personnel.
· Gain insight into handling accounting and billing actions related to repairs.
Support Field Operations:
· Help develop letters for ferry flights, flight extensions, minor repairs, and other structural issues.
· Learn the process of supporting field operations through documentation.
Technical Guidance:
· Provide basic technical guidance to customers using published documents, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
· Understand how to interpret and use these documents effectively.
Identify Improvement Opportunities:
· Learn to identify design and manufacturing improvement opportunities.
· Provide constructive feedback to the appropriate departments.
Monitor Repair Trends:
· Observe and assist in monitoring structural repair trends.
· Identify opportunities to develop standard repairs for potential incorporation into Structural Repair Manuals.
On-Site Damage Evaluations:
· Accompany experienced team members on-site to evaluate severely damaged aircraft.
· Learn the process of conducting damage evaluations in the field.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Management, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanic Engineering, or related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good computer skills
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work in a team environment to meet department level objectives
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
