Director of Sales — Career Schools | Booming Market

Location: In-office, South Jordan, Utah
Comp: Competitive base salary, meaningful equity, and performance-based compensation

What Lumion does

Lumion is building the AI-first operating system for trade and technical schools.

We run the entire student journey—from first inquiry to graduation—across four pillars: engagement, enrollment, payments, and success. AI agents work alongside human teams from one platform, replacing the five or six disconnected tools schools have historically relied on.

Underneath it all is something no one else in the market has: a licensed, in-house payments and servicing engine, NMLS-licensed in 48 states, with a 91.6% collection rate across 36 months.

And we’re building in a market with real urgency. America has a massive skilled trades shortage, and the schools training the next generation of electricians, welders, nurses, technicians, and other essential workers are the bottleneck.

Seven years in, Lumion powers 500+ schools and is backed by TTV Capital and Tusk Venture Partners. We have a strong foothold in career education, a product that continues to expand, and an opportunity to take what we’ve built into the next market and beyond.

Why this role matters

We’re looking for a Director of Sales to own the next stage of Lumion’s revenue growth.

This isn’t a role where you inherit a massive sales organization and optimize around the edges. You’ll be hands-on in the deals, close to the customer, and responsible for building the sales engine Lumion needs for its next chapter.

You’ll own new customer acquisition within our core career school market while helping us figure out where we go next—new segments, new use cases, and eventually new markets where Lumion’s AI-first operating system can solve similarly complex problems.

You’ll work directly with the CEO and leadership team, manage and develop the existing sales team, and build the processes, talent, and operating cadence required to turn a big market opportunity into predictable revenue.

The work

Own the number.
You are accountable for new revenue. You’ll set targets, manage forecasting and pipeline health, and create the operating cadence that keeps the team focused on what actually moves revenue.

Win the career school market.
You’ll deepen Lumion’s position in trade and technical education, identifying the schools, groups, and opportunities where our platform can have the greatest impact.

Sell the AI operating system.
Lumion is becoming much more than a point solution. You’ll help customers understand the value of running engagement, enrollment, payments, and student success through one AI-first platform—and turn that story into revenue.

Help find the next market.
Career schools are where we’ve built our foundation, but they aren’t necessarily where the story ends. You’ll work alongside the CEO, Product, and the broader leadership team to identify and test the next market where Lumion can win.

Build and lead the team.
You’ll be a player-coach: managing and developing the current team while staying close to deals yourself. As revenue grows, you’ll help determine what the sales organization should look like and recruit the talent to build it.

Create a predictable sales engine.
You’ll bring rigor to pipeline management, forecasting, conversion, sales velocity, pricing, and performance metrics. You’ll know what’s working, what isn’t, and where the team needs to adjust.

Bring the market back to Product.
You’ll be one of the closest people in the company to prospective customers. You’ll turn what you hear in the market—objections, competitive intelligence, product gaps, and emerging needs—into actionable feedback for Product and leadership.

How we work

There aren’t layers between you and the decisions. You’ll work directly with the CEO and leadership team and have the ability to turn what you’re seeing in the market into action quickly.

We’re building an AI-native company selling an AI-native product, and we expect our sales organization to operate the same way: using technology and AI to move faster, understand the market better, and spend more time on the work that actually drives revenue.

This is an in-office role in South Jordan, Utah, by design. We’re at a stage where speed matters, and we want our sales leader working shoulder to shoulder with the people building the product and shaping the company.

Who you are

You’ve carried a revenue number.
You’ve owned meaningful sales targets in a B2B environment and can point to measurable revenue growth you helped create.

You’re a builder.
You don’t need a mature sales organization handed to you. You know how to create structure, establish process, identify gaps, and build as the company grows.

You’re still a seller.
You’re comfortable jumping into an important deal, handling an executive conversation, working through an objection, or helping get a contract across the finish line.

You know how to lead salespeople.
You’ve coached, developed, and held teams accountable while creating an environment where strong performers want to stay and win.

You understand the numbers.
Pipeline coverage, conversion, sales velocity, forecasting, win rates, and quota attainment are tools you actively use to run the business—not metrics you review once a quarter.

You can sell a platform, not just a feature.
Lumion touches multiple parts of a school’s operation. You can take a complex product and turn it into a clear, compelling business story for executives.

You’re comfortable with ambiguity.
We know where Lumion is winning today. Part of your job is helping us determine where we can win tomorrow.

You’re energized by what AI is changing.
You don’t need to be an AI engineer, but you should be genuinely curious about how AI is reshaping software, sales, and the way businesses operate.

The opportunity

Lumion already powers more than 500 schools. Now we’re turning years of experience in career education, payments, servicing, and student operations into an AI-first operating system for an enormous and underserved market.

The foundation is here. The market is growing. The product is expanding.

Now we need the sales leader who can help us capture what’s in front of us—and figure out where we go next.
