Purpose of the Job

Responsible for overseeing and managing daily operational activities within the company. Their role includes ensuring smooth execution of logistics and transportation processes, optimizing workflow, supervising teams, and ensuring compliance with operational standards. They play a key role in driving operational efficiency, managing performance, resolving issues, and meeting service delivery targets. The position also involves coordinating with various departments to ensure the seamless flow of goods, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company policies and safety regulations.

Job Description

  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operations.
  • Ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and serviced.
  • Track and manage budgets related to operations, including labor and transportation costs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to operational staff.
  • Oversee the proper handling and storage of goods to prevent damage.
  • Liaise with external vendors and logistics providers to ensure service quality.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all operational activities.
  • Manage reverse logistics processes for returns and damaged goods.
  • Prepare reports on operational performance for senior management.
  • Support the development and training of team members to improve skills and productivity.
  • Oversee daily operations across logistics, transportation, and warehousing.
  • Supervise and lead teams of operations staff, including drivers and warehouse workers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Implement process improvements to optimize workflows.
  • Coordinate with various departments such as sales, customer service, and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Manage the scheduling and dispatch of transportation resources.
  • Handle and resolve operational issues, delays, and customer complaints.

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • Tertiary qualification in Logistics is advantageous
    • Must have a valid Code 8 Driver’s license
    • MS Office applications (Word, Excel, & Outlook)- Advanced Excel & Power BI
    • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in Operations
    • Must have minimum 2 years management experience
