Seagate’s Global Factory Information Technology (GFIT) organization is a global team with resources around our high-tech manufacturing sites located in the United States, Asia, and Northern Ireland. We’re a global organization servicing the IT needs of R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing and Equipment management for Seagate Global Factory. The Penang GFIT team is a key development hub that provides world class application development and solutions with innovative technology. About the role - you will:

Work with experienced developers and a multi-site Agile team on applications used in manufacturing and R&D.
Support the InfoSec and Apps Transformation initiative across MES, RD, and Wafer Apps.
Build and improve APIs, web interfaces, databases, automation, tests, and application integrations.
Use approved GenAI and agentic workflows to explore requirements, design solutions, generate code and tests, create documentation, and troubleshoot issues.
Review AI-generated work for accuracy, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
Apply secure coding practices and support access control, vulnerability remediation, audit, and compliance activities.
Turn ideas into working prototypes, demonstrate your work, and improve solutions through feedback.
Gain hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle, mentoring from experienced developers, global teamwork, and a portfolio-ready project with real business impact.

About you:

Curious about how software, security, and AI can solve real engineering and manufacturing challenges.
Comfortable with at least one technology such as Java, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular, or .NET C#.
Familiar with web applications, REST APIs, databases, or Git through coursework, projects, hackathons, or internships.
Interested in GenAI, AI agents, automated testing, or AI-assisted software engineering.
Hands-on, willing to experiment, and comfortable asking questions and learning from feedback.
Collaborative, self-motivated, and able to communicate in English.

Your experience includes:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience building a software, web, data, automation, or AI project through university, a hackathon, a personal portfolio, or an internship.
Exposure to manufacturing, R&D, MES, factory applications, or other enterprise application environments.
Awareness of secure development, authentication, vulnerability management, monitoring, or system integration.
Hands-on use of automated testing, monitoring, logging, or GenAI-assisted development tools.

Our Penang office is located in Suntech at Cybercity, easily accessible via public transportation.
