The services provided include: radio coverage predictions; coverage optimisation; traffic planning; frequency planning; drive test data analysis and reports; GIS Data sourcing/conversion; microwave link planning; customer presentations and basic RF training. Services are provided throughout the lifecycle of a radio system from pre-sale design through deployment to in-service support.
Job Description
The Radio Network Planning Engineer reports to the RNS Manager and is responsible for the creation of radio network plans for mission critical radio communications networks. These networks are typically for government public safety organisations (e.g. Police, Fire Services, Border Guards, etc.) but also include other sectors such as public transport (Airports, Metros, etc.) and utilities (e.g. water and electricity distribution). Our customers rely on our radio communications network in the moments that matter and we help to ensure the safety of both workers and citizens. The networks typically employ Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technologies such as APCO25, TETRA or DMR. The responsibilities of the role include:
Pre-Sale
- Discussing coverage requirements with potential customers
- Creating initial coverage and frequency plans using radio planning tools
- Evaluating tender requirements
- Creating input for proposals (coverage maps, descriptions, coverage statistics, site configurations)
- Presenting solutions to customers
Post-Sale
- Liaising with site acquisition teams, transmission planning and systems engineers
- Creating detailed RF network plans including coverage maps, frequency plans, neighbour lists, equipment lists, and coverage verification plans.
- Support coverage optimisation activities including site visits as required.
- Analysing drive test data for optimisation and coverage acceptance and producing reports.
