Supplier Quality Engineering Intern, Data Analytics

About our group:

Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) supports supplier qualification, incoming material quality, supplier performance monitoring, and risk management for critical materials used in recording media operations (RMO). The team works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and global suppliers to ensure material quality, qualification readiness, and supply continuity. This intern role offers a unique opportunity to help digitize SQE inspection and monitoring data, analyze quality trends and supplier signals, and develop automated trigger systems with timely notifications to the responsible Supplier Quality team for faster follow-up, escalation, and decision-making.

About the role - you will:

As an SQE Intern, you will work closely with Supplier Quality Engineers to digitize inspection data and build dashboards for incoming quality, SAH monitoring, supplier performance metrics, and qualification status tracking.

  • Digitize and consolidate inspection data from incoming quality, supplier reports, qualification records, and internal tracking files.

  • Develop Power BI and Excel dashboards to monitor incoming inspection trends, SAH performance, supplier quality metrics, and qualification progress.

  • Use AI tools to improve data organization, automate repetitive reporting steps, identify anomalies, and generate concise insights for SQE reviews.

  • Support supplier performance reviews by preparing visual summaries, trend charts, and data-driven action trackers.

  • Collaborate with SQE, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to improve data accuracy, reporting discipline, and management visibility.

What Will You Learn and Embark on at the Start?

  • Understand SQE processes including incoming inspection, supplier quality monitoring, qualification tracking, and issue escalation.

  • Learn current data sources, inspection records, SAH monitoring methods, supplier scorecards, and qualification trackers used by the team.

  • Begin by cleaning, standardizing, and linking data sets from Excel files, supplier reports, and SQE trackers.

  • Build initial dashboard prototypes in Power BI or Excel and review them with SQE stakeholders for usability, accuracy, and relevance.

What You Would Ultimately Be Able to Be Proficient In?

  • Develop proficiency in Power BI dashboard design, Excel data modeling, data visualization, and KPI reporting for supplier quality operations.

  • Gain practical understanding of incoming quality control, SAH monitoring, supplier performance metrics, and qualification status management.

  • Apply mechanical, material, or chemical engineering knowledge to interpret quality trends, inspection results, and supplier process signals.

  • Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to accelerate reporting, summarize trends, and identify potential data gaps or abnormal patterns.

  • Create sustainable digital reporting solutions that improve SQE decision-making, reduce manual reporting effort, and strengthen supplier performance visibility.

About you:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, analytical, and self-motivated intern who is comfortable working with engineering data, digital tools, and cross-functional teams.

  • Digital mindset: Interest in improving manual processes through data automation, visualization, and dashboarding.

  • Analytical thinking: Ability to interpret data trends, identify abnormal patterns, and connect quality signals to engineering context.

  • Communication skills: Able to present dashboard insights and technical findings clearly to SQE, Engineering, and management stakeholders.

  • Team player: Comfortable collaborating with local and global stakeholders across SQE, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and suppliers.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in data Analyst, Data Science or a related engineering discipline.

  • Proficient in Power BI, Microsoft Excel, data visualization, and basic data analysis.

  • Familiarity with AI tools for data summarization, automation, reporting, or productivity improvement is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of quality systems, inspection of data, statistics, or supplier quality concepts is an advantage.

  • Strong curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn supplier quality processes in a fast-paced engineering environment.
