JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and conducting complex aircraft mechanical system design assignments for Textron Aviation aircraft. These systems may include Environmental Control, Landing Gear/Brakes, Hydraulics, Ice Protection, and Flight Controls.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Incorporate designs utilizing CATIA V5 design and drafting software
- 3D model development in support of detail, assembly and installation drawings
- Support build of prototypes of systems components for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations
- Assist in the creation of test plans and reports
- Create presentations to convey test results, design issues, or trade study recommendations
- Communicate and coordinate with Engineering technical sections, Manufacturing, Tooling, Technical Publications, and other functional areas
- Check Peer drawings, initiate the drawing routing process and support Space Reviews (i.e. CATIA V5 Model Management/Interference Checks)
- Support build of production aircraft, which includes coordination with Manufacturing Engineering to support design interpretation and response to workmanship and producibility issues
- Coordinate design modifications to experimental aircraft in support of testing and qualification
- Support the investigation and response to customer aircraft and system component issues
Qualifications
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Other related technical degree
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of FAA and/or Military processes and procedures to support certification schedules is beneficial
- Working knowledge of generic CAD design tool processes
- Experience in CATIA V5 is preferred
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
