Analyze materials, components, coatings, and competitor technologies to understand composition, processing routes, material-property relationships, and potential innovation opportunities for Grid Technologies
How You'll Make an Impact
• Conduct reverse engineering studies on materials, components, coatings, and competitor products.
• Identify material composition, microstructure, processing indicators, and functional characteristics.
• Plan and coordinate analytical investigations using microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, mechanical testing, and surface characterization.
• Benchmark materials and technologies to support product development, material substitutions, supplier evaluation, and research roadmaps.
• Translate analytical findings into clear technical insights for R&D, engineering, product management, and procurement.
• Support selected failure, ageing, and degradation investigations where material expertise is required.
• Build structured knowledge from analysis results to support digital and data-driven materials intelligence.
What You Bring
• Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• First practical experience in material characterization, reverse engineering, failure analysis, or applied materials research.
• Experience with selected methods such as SEM/EDS, XRF, FTIR, DSC/TGA, XRD, microscopy, metallography, or mechanical testing is beneficial.
• Ability to interpret analytical data and link composition, structure, processing, and performance.
• Curious, structured, hands-on mindset with strong scientific problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with global R&D, engineering, suppliers, universities, and external labs
