  • INR 2,200,000 – INR 4,000,000

Overview

Windows + Devices powers experiences for over a billion users worldwide, building the platforms and products that create magical experiences across Microsoft and leading the Windows and Surface products through deep partnership across the company and with OEM partners. The Windows Engineering System is the backbone that lets Windows engineers design, code, build, validate, and ship at massive scale, securely and with high quality.

As a Software Development Engineer II on the India Development Center team in Bangalore, you will focus on building tools, improving services, optimizing performance, and contributing to developer productivity across the Windows build environment. You will design routing logic for Windows workloads, understand their characteristics and current routing data, profile workloads, and intelligently place them on the most optimal cost compute resources to drive meaningful efficiency gains for engineers and customers.

In this role, you will apply core software engineering excellence to design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality, secure, and reliable features that power build infrastructure at scale. You will collaborate with internal partners to understand workload requirements, create test strategies, and use automation, telemetry, and experimentation to validate and continuously improve your solutions. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing compute resources within the build ecosystem and reducing overall build costs for clearly defined workload characteristics, helping the team deliver more with less.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

  • Develop and refine routing logic for Windows workloads, using workload characteristics and routing data to intelligently place builds on optimal compute resources that improve efficiency and reduce build costs.
  • Create and execute clear test strategies and plans, building testable code and leveraging automation, debugging tools, logs, and telemetry to validate assumptions, ensure solution quality, and prevent regressions.
  • Contribute to the automation of production deployment for key features, targeting highly reliable, low-touch deployments and using experimentation and feature flags to validate changes safely in non‑production and production environments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand user and workload requirements, incorporate insights into designs, and use telemetry and monitoring to improve reliability, availability, and observability of build-related services.
