The School of Engineering and & Computing at the American International University in Kuwait comprises the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The school offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Position Summary

The School of Engineering and Computing invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Civil Engineering at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an active research profile, and engage with emerging technologies and methodologies. Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, research, and institutional service, while contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centered, and multicultural academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate Civil Engineering courses with a strong focus on practical and industry-based learning.

• Integrate real-world engineering practices, construction projects, case studies, standards, and codes into teaching.

• Support teaching in areas such as structures, construction, geotechnical engineering, transportation, water resources, and environmental engineering.

• Maintain strong industry connections and stay current with new technologies, construction practices, and Civil Engineering trends.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 5 years of university-level teaching experience, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and student engagement.

• Strong knowledge of current Civil Engineering practices, standards, and technologies.

• Ability to connect classroom teaching with real-world engineering and construction practices.

• Proficiency with relevant engineering software, digital tools, BIM, simulation, or analytical tools.

• Excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork, and organizational skills in English.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teaching and research.

• Ability to integrate diverse cultural and ethical perspectives into the curriculum.
