The School of Engineering and & Computing at the American International University in Kuwait comprises the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The school offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Position Summary

The School of Engineering and Computing invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Biomedical Engineering at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an active research profile, and engage with emerging technologies and methodologies. Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, research, and institutional service, while contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centered, and multicultural academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality undergraduate courses in Biomedical Engineering, including Biomedical Signals and Systems, Biomedical Instrumentation, Medical Imaging, and related areas.

  • Integrate emerging technologies, computational tools, AI, and hands-on learning into teaching and laboratory instruction.

  • Supervise and mentor senior design projects, capstone projects, undergraduate research, and independent studies.

  • Maintain an active research and scholarly agenda in Biomedical Engineering, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and external funding.

  • Develop and continuously enhance curriculum, laboratory experiences, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies in alignment with accreditation and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 5 years of university-level teaching experience, with demonstrated excellence in Biomedical Engineering education.

  • Strong expertise in one or more areas of Biomedical Engineering, such as biomedical signals and systems, biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, biosensors, biomaterials, biomechanics, or biomedical AI.

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI, computational methods, simulation tools, and emerging technologies into teaching and learning.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with strong advising, mentoring, and student-engagement abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse and multicultural academic environments.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teaching and research.

  • Ability to integrate diverse cultural and ethical perspectives into the curriculum.
