THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Design Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The CG SOC Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. 

THE PERSON: 

As a Systems Design Infrastructure Engineer, you will apply advanced systems engineering and data analysis techniques to evaluate workload behavior, identify bottlenecks, and drive measurable improvements in infrastructure efficiency. In this high-visibility role, you will translate complex system utilization data into actionable insights that improve product development velocity, reduce operational cost, and increase effective compute capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Make timely, informed decisions and judgment calls on resource allocations that balance team needs with broader organizational priorities.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering and IT to support efficient compute operations and continuous improvement.
• Analyze compute workloads at both macro and micro levels to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Monitor and evaluate LSF job behavior and resource usage, including reservation, utilization, submission parameters, and prediction/override mechanisms.
• Leverage AI in developing and improving a wide array of tools to analyze utilization, detect misuse, and recommend improvements.
• Operate, refine, and automate command line and shell-based workflows to support analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Strong understanding of LSF job concepts, including resource reservation, utilization, submission parameters, resource prediction, and overrides.
• Intermediate or advanced Linux command line, python, and shell scripting skills; comfortable spending significant time in a command-line environment.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets to generate insights and actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency using a wide variety of tools for analyzing compute utilization, workflow performance, problem areas, and misuse.
• Ability to make frequent judgment calls with an organization-first mindset.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent.
