The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company's payment network. Within GMNS, the Global Governance, Risk, Remediation AND Operations (GRRO) team's mission is to deliver a best-in-class premium merchant member experience that will get merchant to not only accept American Express but openly welcome and recommend us to their customers
The objective of the GMNS Risk Reporting & Analytics team is to drive risk-based decisioning and management of risk & compliance objectives to support business priorities while promoting a strong risk culture. To that end, the team is to be responsible for developing and improving analytics and reporting strategies along with data capabilities for the GMNS business, with a strong focus on driving automation. The role will also support core control & compliance tracking by developing improved reporting and analysis to drive valuable insights and effective risk mitigation strategies. This includes developing C-suite reporting, root cause analysis, and ensuring GMNS is effectively achieving risk performance ratings. The position requires the ability to support global initiatives and participate in special projects across multiple regions and time zones.
- Translate complex data into compelling executive-ready dashboards, presentations, and narratives using Power BI, SQL, Excel, Python and other analytical tools to influence business decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying reporting gaps, data quality issues, process enhancement opportunities, and strengthening risk reporting frameworks, governance and analytical capabilities.
- Ensure continuity of critical Issues, OREs, Corrective Actions & Remediation risk reporting across GMNS Risk Committee and Sub-BU forums, including data quality, methodology validation & governance.
- Enable proactive risk monitoring and decision-making through analytics, dashboarding and centralized reporting across Issues, OREs, PRSA and RCSA.
- Sustain critical automation and reporting capabilities across Power BI, Power Query, Excel and AI-enabled solutions.
- Maintain a strong risk and control environment through ongoing data-quality challenge, reporting validation and process improvement, mitigating operational and reporting risk.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Risk Reporting, Risk Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Operational Risk, Compliance or a related analytical function within Financial Services
- Hands-on experience with Advanced Excel, Python, SQL, Power BI, BigQuery and Gen-AI tools (Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT)
- Strong communication and storytelling skills
- Demonstrated experience developing executive reporting, dashboards and analytical presentations for senior leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience performing trend analysis, root cause investigations and insight generation from large and complex datasets.
- Knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management frameworks (OREs, Issues, PRSA and RCSA) and key risk indicators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's in business administration, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting enterprise risk governance, executive reporting, or regulatory reporting initiatives.
- Experience driving reporting automation, process optimization, or analytics transformation initiatives.
