The School of Arts and Sciences at the American International University in Kuwait comprises disciplines in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics, English Literature, Humanities, and Education.
The school offers a broad interdisciplinary foundation in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, and education, equipping students with critical thinking, analytical, communication, and research skills essential for academic and professional success.
Position Overview:
The Full Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor of Humanities is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the humanities, fostering critical thinking and intellectual inquiry, and contributing to the academic development of the program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching experience, subject-matter expertise, and a commitment to academic excellence, research, and student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach introductory and upper-level Political Science courses (e.g., Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory)
- Teach at least one additional Humanities course, such as History, Ethics, Philosophy, or World Cultures
- Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with general education learning outcomes
- Contribute to curriculum development, academic advising, and student mentorship
- Participate in institutional service, including department meetings, committees, and campus initiatives
- Engage in scholarly or professional activities related to your field
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Government, or a closely related Humanities field
- Minimum 3 years of university-level teaching experience (preferred)
- Ability to teach across multiple Humanities disciplines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience teaching diverse student populations, including English language learners
- Cultural adaptability and enthusiasm for working in an international academic setting
- Familiarity with American-style higher education models is a plus
