Dear Aspirant!

We empower our people to stay resilient and relevant in a constantly changing world. We’re looking for people who are always searching for creative ways to grow and learn. People who want to make a real impact, now and in the future. Does that sound like you? Then it seems like you’d make a great addition to our vibrant international team.

We are looking for: Mechanical Engineer – PV Skid Design

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Lead the mechanical design and equipment layout of PV skids integrating transformers, PCS/inverters, RMU switchgear, auxiliary panels, communication cabinets, supports, cable routing features, and associated structural elements.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical design deliverables including skid layouts, general arrangement drawings, mounting details, fabrication drawings, structural support details, and bills of material.
  • Define equipment placement and mechanical interfaces to ensure safe access, serviceability, ventilation, transportability, lifting, and installation practicality.
  • Ensure designs account for applicable structural, mechanical, and safety requirements including equipment anchorage, handling loads, environmental conditions, and safe-access clearances.
  • Coordinate mechanical integration with electrical, controls, manufacturing, civil/foundation, sourcing, and field installation stakeholders.
  • Support design of skid base frames, equipment mounting structures, enclosure features, cable entry provisions, and mechanical accommodations for cable and bus transitions.
  • Review and incorporate civil and foundation interface requirements including skid loading, support points, anchor locations, center-of-gravity considerations, and installation constraints.
  • Apply working knowledge of relevant safety and design considerations tied to OSHA access requirements, industrial clearances, and equipment integration for renewable energy systems.
  • Develop and revise 3D models and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Own and maintain skid mechanical documentation throughout the product lifecycle, including layout drawings, fabrication details, mounting/interface drawings, general arrangement drawings, and technical content needed for installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Support creation and revision of skid installation, operation, and maintenance manuals by providing mechanical design content, equipment layout details, assembly guidance, handling and lifting instructions, access requirements, and serviceability considerations for manufacturing, field installation, commissioning, and service teams.
  • Support prototype reviews, shop fabrication feedback, field issue resolution, and continuous improvement of skid platform designs for manufacturability and repeatability.

Use your skills to move the world forward!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred; 3–5 years considered for strong candidates with direct experience in solar, renewable energy, industrial equipment packaging, structural/mechanical design, or integrated skid/package engineering.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and structural design practices for equipment packaging, mounting, access, maintainability, transport, and installation.
  • Familiarity with applicable safety and design considerations tied to OSHA access requirements, equipment clearance needs, and industrial installation environments.
  • Understanding of civil and foundation interface requirements for packaged equipment, including static loads, anchor points, support conditions, and installation tolerances.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Basic understanding of skid-level electrical equipment integration so mechanical layouts properly supports cable routing, panel access, equipment spacing, and maintenance needs.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineering documentation packages, including drawings, bills of material, fabrication details, technical instructions, and installation/operation/support documentation.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across electrical controls, manufacturing, sourcing, field service, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, strong collaboration skills, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset aligned with Siemens culture.
