Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Telecom Engineer to oversee our Metro Rail projects in the South Region, encompassing the state of Kerala (Kochi City).

The ideal candidate should possess an Engineering Graduate with minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience; out of which a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Telecommunication domain in Metro Railway project or similar transportation system environment.

The Telecom Engineer will be responsible for design, installation, testing, commissioning, integration, operation, and maintenance of all telecommunication systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient train operations by ensuring compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Engineering in Coordination with Design Manager:

• Review Employer's Requirements, Specifications, and Standards.

• Prepare telecom system architecture and detailed engineering designs.

• Develop system layout drawings, schematics, cable routing plans, and interface documents.

• Coordinate with signaling, power supply, rolling stock, civil, and MEP teams.

• Ensure compliance with Metro Rail standards, IEC, EN, IEEE, and local regulations.

Telecommunication Systems Management in coordination with Project Manager, Design Manager,

Interface Manager, Testing & Commissioning Engineer, Quality Manager, EHS Manager, and system OEMS/Vendor partners:

• Fiber Optic Communication Network (OFC)

o Design and supervise installation of fiber optic backbone networks.

o Conduct fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and link performance verification.

• Telephone Systems

o Manage Emergency Telephone System (ETS).

o Manage Operational Telephone System (OTS).

o Configure IP-PBX and VoIP systems.

• Radio Communication System

o Implement TETRA, LTE, or other radio systems.

o Ensure communication coverage throughout tunnels, stations, viaducts, and depots.

o Coordinate radio frequency testing and optimization.

• CCTV Surveillance System

o Supervise installation of CCTV cameras and recording systems.

o Configure Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and video management software.

o Ensure integration with Operations Control Center (OCC).

• Passenger Information System (PIS)

o Configure audio and visual passenger information systems.

o Integrate train arrival/departure information.

o Ensure real-time announcements and display functionality.

• Public Address System (PAS)

o Design and configure station and depot PA systems.

o Ensure emergency and routine announcements are delivered effectively.

o Test audio clarity and coverage.

• Master Clock System

o Implement synchronized master and slave clock systems.

o Ensure synchronization across all stations and operational areas.

• Access Control & Intrusion Detection

o Implement access control systems.

o Configure card readers, biometric devices, and monitoring systems.

o Ensure integration with security management systems.

• Installation & Site Supervision

o Supervise telecom equipment installation at stations, depots, tunnels, and OCC.

o Monitor cable tray installation and cable pulling activities.

o Ensure installation quality according to approved drawings and method statements.

o Verify contractor compliance with safety requirements.

• Testing & Commissioning

o Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).

o Conduct Site Acceptance Test (SAT).

o Perform integrated system testing.

o Support Trial Running and revenue operation readiness activities.

  1. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare:

o Method statements

o Risk assessments

o Inspection reports

o Test reports

o As-built drawings

o O&M manuals

• Maintain project progress reports and punch lists.

  1. Safety & Quality Management

• Ensure compliance with:

o Metro Rail Safety Requirements

o Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures

o HSE standards and regulations

• Participate in safety audits and inspections.

  1. Project Management Responsibilities.

• Track telecom installation and commissioning progress.

• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors.

• Participate in technical and progress review meetings.

  1. Operation & Maintenance Support

• Assist during trial operations.

• Troubleshoot telecom system faults.

• Train operations and maintenance personnel.

• Support defect liability period (DLP) activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

? Education: Engineering Graduate, Bachelors of Degree in Electronics & Communications, Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering

Experience & Skills:

? Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, out of which a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Telecommunication domain in Metro Railway Projects or similar transportation network system

? Sound technical skills on Telecommunication systems for Metro Railway project or similar environment

? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

? Willingness to travel as per project needs.

? Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables.

? Ability to adopt technical skills faster

? Demonstrated commitment to EHS practices.
